Marriage of Inconvenience

MOI copy.jpg de Penny Reid (2018)

Résumé : There are three things you need to know about Kat Tanner (aka Kathleen Tyson. . . and yes, she is *that* Kathleen Tyson) :
1) She’s determined to make good decisions,
2) She must get married ASAP, and
3) She knows how to knit.

Being a billionaire heiress isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it sucks. Determined to live a quiet life, Kat Tanner changed her identity years ago and eschewed her family’s legacy. But now, Kat’s silver spoon past has finally caught up with her, and so have her youthful mistakes. To avoid imminent disaster, she must marry immediately; it is essential that the person she chooses have no romantic feelings for her whatsoever and be completely trustworthy.

Fortunately, she knows exactly who to ask. Dan O’Malley checks all the boxes: single, romantically indifferent to her, completely trustworthy. Sure, she might have a wee little crush on Dan the Security Man, but with clear rules, expectations, and a legally binding contract, Kat is certain she can make it through this debacle with her sanity—and heart—all in one piece.
Except, what happens when Dan O’Malley isn’t as indifferent—or as trustworthy—as she thought ?

It's terrible, I can't write this review because this is the last book of "Knitting in the City" and I could not finish with "can't wait for the next one !" T-T . Of course, Penny Reid writes other novels, but the Knitters have a special place in my little softy heart. After spending 6 books squealing on rare moments, here is the story of Kat and Dan the Security Man. We've known them from the beginning and finally, FINALLY, we have them both just for us.

Kat is about to inherit the business empire of her parents and to avoid falling under the grasp of Cousin Itt, it is vital that she marries someone she trust and who will be able to put out with the said cousin. Obviously, Dan accepts, he would do anything for Kat, not only because he is her friend, but he is unable to leave her alone in this critical situation (and inevitably, he refuses to see her married to someone else, even for a fake marriage xD).

3 years they turn around each other, close or not, it's never the right time, then there is Vegas (the marriage of Elisabeth and Nico) and misunderstandings ... Pages of frustrated readings and here we finally have our release. The marriage of inconvenience at the beginning will inevitably create doubts and questions, but Penny offers us complex characters who talk and think together... Arf, I won't say too much, I don't want to spoil, but Kat and Dan are absolutely what that the other needs and you read book without stops.

Beard in Mind

cover bim.jpg de Penny Reid (2017)

Présentation de l'éditeur : Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually. Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever. She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life. The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean missing out on what matters most.

LIVE.jpg

I feel like repeating myself, but with every book, Penny pulls out of the crazy stuff !

Over the previous novels, Beau was not one of my favorite Winston's, but being in his head changes a lot, we want to give him big cuddles all the time and "help him fix his refrigerator" (I leave the explanation of this metaphor suspended, you will have to read the book to understand huhu).

Otherwise, the real pearl here is Shelly. She is a solar character, She outshines everyone in this novel. In my opinion, one of Penny's most accomplishedheroines.

I highly recommend this book ^^. 2 Winstons more after this one : Roscoe, whose story will be eventful xD, and finally Billy who will deserve his soulmate with passion *heart heart heart *

Dating-ish

20170306 Dating ish 01 (2).jpg de Penny Reid (2017)

Résumé : There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She's fed up with online dating, 2) She's so fed up, she's willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.

After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities : Need a cuddle ? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation ? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm ? Try orgasm meditation ! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services ?

But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he's not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different--and crazier--solution to her dilemma... As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all ?

On a plusieurs scènes totalement géniales...

I know, I know, this blog revives just for Penny Reid xD and every time I say that her new book is super awesome and that you should read it. Of course, being a very big fan, I'm still very enthusiastic, but there is something with this one (really ^^).

With each novel, Penny offers us a different story from the previous ones, Marie and Matt's is confusing and touching. You should expect to think about subjects that would never have crossed your mind : what if a couple's future was with a robot? O_o

Marie and Matt don't meet under the best conditions, it could have remained anecdotal for Mary, but Matt turns out to be Fiona and Greg sexy neighbor. Once Marie gets over it, in the name of science Matt agrees to let Marie interview him on his research in artificial intelligence, and specifically in the field of human relations.

Marie and Matt will first become friends before being more. It's very pleasant to follow their evolution, to see them fall in love, confront their ideas, to see them think and test modern substitutes to the couple xD ... And well, when they start to jump each other it's super mega hot *-* #itshotinhere

What a joy to see the whole gang again (and their guys). We have several totally brilliant scenes... And what about what will fall us for the next and final book !!
